This Hampton offers all of the positive features we've come to know and appreciate for this wallet-friendly brand. Upgraded "Cloud Nine" bedding, free high-speed internet access and complimentary breakfasts top the list of perks. Rooms are nothing special, but are clean and comfortable.

The hotel overlooks the Country Club Plaza shopping district on the top of a steep hill. Your quads will feel a burn walking up after shopping or a meal.

Hampton's gym is nothing to flip over, but it does offer a few useable cardio machines and a multigym. A dumbbell set would be an inexpensive and simple addition. The two Life Fitness bikes are in the best shape of all the equipment. Plenty of room in the gym to supplement with a few more machines.

Those looking for more should drive to UMKC's fitness center, lap pool and/or track (5 minutes by car).
