• You can't run on the 400-meter track at the newly renovated Tad Gormley stadium in City Park, but just to the northeast of the huge complex is a 400-meter practice track with a good surface (see photos) and no security fence. Look for the goalposts from afar--it's about 200 yards away from the north side of Gormley stadium.

  • Our distance begins in front of the Loews hotel (Poydras & S. Peters Sts.), but most other hotels are within a half-mile of this Start/Finish:

    * Run south along S. Peters St. (use the sidewalk)

    * After a few blocks, turn R on Andrew Higgins Drive and follow to Lee Circle

    * Turn L at the circle and pick up the grassy St. Charles median in the middle of the two-sided street (for an alternative Start point, pick up St. Charles anywhere)

    * Keep your eye out for trolleys and stay clear of the track in use

  • Note 1: Only consider running this route during the day. Note 2: This route is recommended only for those who have a run partner. Rampart Street is busy with traffic and some of the neighborhoods are sketchy. Please see our St. Charles Avenue route for singles and those desiriing a more convenient route. This route follows much of the popular Crescent City 10K race route & will bring you to City Park, one of the 10 largest urban parks in the U.S. To shorten the route, consider taking a taxi to the park and running home OR just running down Rampart and part of Esplanade
