• Not much of a "mountain" for those from the West, but it still provides miles of challenging hike and/or running trails for everyone. Come here only during the day (and preferably with a partner) as the trails are densely wooded. Definitely bring a cell phone in case you twist an ankle and need help out.

The trails are single track and wind up and down the hill. Different difficulty levels are available. For example there is the 1.5 mile Ridge Trail follows along the west bank of the Arkansas River. The maximum change in elevation here is 300 feet, but some trails can be steep.

  • Pick up this fantastic run route at any point along the Arkansas River from downtown Tulsa all the way south to 71st Street. Bridges along the route will take you across to the other side if you choose. The trail is predominantly asphalt. It's a popular route with locals, but still run during daytime hours only as parts of it are tree-lined. We don't list an address because you can pick up the path at any point along the river for miles. If you're at or near 71st Street, run north, all others should run south.

  • What a great find! Especially for those staying at the caddie-corner Doubletree hotel, this open space provides runners with a fantastic jogging trail option. It's not the most scenic route we've seen, parts of the path meander along side busy roads, but the crushed stone and dirt winds its away around a park and golf course for 3.5 miles. No need to worry about traffic lights, automobiles, etc. Our recommended Hyatt Place hotel is also within convenient jogging distance.
