Go ahead and super size that Jamba
What, Athletic-Minded Traveler is actually condoning ordering BIG? What gives?
If you can make it last, go for it. Willpower.
Our favorite Jamba Juice order, and nearly the unhealthiest, is the Chocolate Moo'd with extra strawberries. Think tasty chocolate shake with a hint of berry. (At least it's more sensible than a Carl's Jr. chocolate shake, which we also love.)
Because our tasty treat is not a standard menu item, our 16 oz order often yields 24 oz. And the friendly Jamba staff gives it to us. That's a lot of smoothie! Jim guzzles about 1/3; I'll suck down 1/5; and we even share some with our daughter. That leaves quite a bit of smoothie leftovers.
NO WASTING: We stick it in the freezer and start again the next day. It tastes just as good. The defrosting is slow, however, and microwaving risks ruining it altogether.
So just how "bad" is our treat? It's pretty ugly in terms of calories and sugar, but very sensible if fat is the worry.
NUTRITION INFO ON OUR FAVORITE JAMBA ORDER:
Jamba Chocolate Moo'd with XTRA Strawberries: The tasty treat isn't listed on the Jamba site?? The Peanut Butter Moo'd is listed and comes in at 530 calories for 16 oz and 83 grams of sugar. WOW!!!!! Our 24 oz "original" size comes in at 840 calories and 122 grams of sugar. An independent nutrition data site lists the 16 oz Chocolate Moo'd at 420 calories and 94 grams of sugar (but we get xtra berries) and the 24 oz at 634 calories and 142 grams sugar.
JAMBA VERSUS A CARL'S JR. CHOCOLATE SHAKE
Carl's Jr. Chocolate Hand Scooped Shake: It's 14 oz, so significantly smaller than our Jamba order. The creamy delight has 710 calories, 71 grams of sugar and 33 grams of fat. Again, it's a darn good shake.
But all that artery clogging fat is reason enough to feel better about the Jamba treat. Our Jamba has very little fat--5 grams for the 16 oz and 8 grams for the 24 oz.
So why not order the much more sensible Berry Fulfilling which is a creamy blend of raspberry juice, frozen strawberries, and frozen blueberries? The 16 oz has only 150 calories and 23 grams of sugar! (It's sweetened with Splenda.)
It's simple. Sometimes less of a really good thing is so much MORE.

Yummy. Here is another
Yummy. Here is another option for those who love REAL ice cream but want a smaller portion. Go to Baskin Robbins and get 1 scoop chocolate (260 calories, 14 grams fat) and 1 scoop rainbow sherbert (160 calories, 2 grams fat). This blend is rich and very satisfying and clearly at a total of 420 calories (versus the Carl's Jr. 710) is MUCH more sensible.
The above post got me
The above post got me thinking about the Chocolate Moo'd Jamba smoothie, so I emailed Jamba and received this reply a day later!
