Since the below information was posted, further research has indicated that the number of drugs on the market that react adversely with grapefruit has increased substantially to 43! Drugs on this list include Zocor, Lipitor, Nifediac and Afeditab. Other citrus fruits that contain "furanocoumarins" such as Seville oranges, limes and pomelos.
If you tune into any of the remaining stages of Le Tour de France (daily on the Versus channel) this year, likely you will find the current leader of the race, Michael Rasmussen, battling head-to-head with a little known Spanish rider from Team Discovery--Alberto Contador. At 24, he is one of the youngest riders in this year's race.
What's for breakfast? In our house cereal is huge...for breakfast, snacking and especially as a dessert. We typically have 10+ boxes in the cupboard and about 4-6 different types/brands/flavors.
But, just as with energy bars, comparing labels can be tricky. And depending upon your food goal (lots of calories, minimal calories, flavor, bulk), knowing more about what you put in your bowl can help you achieve that goal.
So we're taking a poll: Tell us what breakfast cereal you prefer, how much you eat, and your food/nutrition goal.
We love BBQ. We grill fish, veggies, chicken, and meats.
Two frequent scenarios:
1. We're out for dinner and salivating over the dessert menu when one of the group exclaims that, while they would love to indulge in the flourless chocolate cake (what menu does not offer this?), the chocolate's caffeine will keep them up all night.
2. My husband suffers a bad night's sleep and blames the chocolate dessert of which he only ate 1/2 of and it was small to begin with.
We know chocolate contains some caffeine, but is it enough to throw asunder one's sleep?

A Pro's Schedule
Professional triathletes have it easy. Wake up, roll out of bed, head to the pool, come home, eat, take a nap, go for a run, shower, make a few sponsor-related calls, answer emails, have dinner, go to sleep, and then repeat.
Sure, they make themselves hurt during a swim, bike, run or strength session, but physical fatigue is much less grueling than mental stressors.
We don't have a dog. I grew up with cats as the family pet--Siamese cats. But we don't have any cats now.
