In 2004 the USDA conducted an in-depth study of the antioxidant content of commonly consumed foods. To my surprise, not far down the list from red beans, wild blueberries, and cranberries, were artichokes and pecans. Who knew? (I love artichokes.)
Follow this link to see the top 20. Even the russet potato made this prestigious list. But in terms of nuts, ONLY the pecan made the antioxidant top-20 cut.
"XJet" will target "under-served" markets with non-stop service on 50-seat planes. That's right, all routes will be non-stop. As its name implies, the company will fly jets, not prop planes, and each will have leather seats, only window and aisle chairs (i.e., no middles), and free XM Satellite radio.
In the spirit of the Grammy Awards--what a fantastic show that was last Sunday night (no lip-synching, no gratuitous profanity/nudity, etc.)--we thought it would be fun to nominate a few of our favorite sweat tunes.
What makes a good workout song in our view? It must be motivating (slow tunes put us to sleep). It cannot be too long (6 minutes or more of any song is overkill). And, it has to be clean (profanity first thing in the a.m.
T-Mobile deserves much praise and recognition for leading the professional cycling pack in the battle against doping.
After witnessing the sport of professinal cycling endure multiple drug scandals through 2006, the telecommunications behemoth seriously considered redirecting its sponsorship dollars toward other sports (e.g., soccer, Formula 1, etc.).
Forget about all the articles and columns that preach how to enjoy the SuperBowl in a healthy way! These snippets of advice are prevalent online and in print: "Healthy SuperBowl Snacks," "Hosting a SuperBowl Party Lite," "Staying on the SuperBowl Buffet Sideline," to name a few.
In my opinion, SuperBowl belongs in the same category as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and one's birthday--4 days out of 365 when you indulge, imbibe, and ignore.
?Don?t mess with my peanut butter.? That?s what my husband said when I recently switched to an organic brand. ?Isn?t all PB wholesome and natural?? he queried. While PB&J is as American as Apple Pie, there could be a health glitch.
Have you checked out the ingredients in your favorite nutty staple? If you?re not buying all natural or organic, you?re likely getting more than you bargained for.
No, we?re not about to have an intelligent debate on oil and natural gas exploration. We read enough opinions on the topic in the newspapers?still can?t understand why more environmentally friendly drilling hasn?t begun yet?
And, fortunately for you, we will not be discussing the annual (preferably semi-annual) cavity discovery at the dentist?you don?t need teeth to suck down Gatorade and swallow gels, do you?

Athletic-minded skin takes a beating. Sweaty workouts, chlorinated pools, chafing winds, and the sun?s UV rays, all contribute to the de-moisturizing and wrinkling of our epidermis?the skin?s top layer.
Now, I?m no skin care nut/expert?until a year or so ago, I didn?t even know there was a difference between body and facial soap. But, after learning about the damage that we athletes can do to our skin and the resulting problems (e.g., deadly melanoma for one), I now wish I would have started a skin maintenance program earlier in my life.
Okay, did I just write that?
We're working hard putting the finishing touches on brand new content for Orange County, California. We'll be recommending 16 hotels, numerous health clubs and community centers, multiple run routes and lap pools, more than 30 places to eat, and more. Likely, we'll put up content on the OC business hubs of Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Newport Beach, first. Then we'll follow up with a subsequent addition covering Laguna Beach and Anaheim.
