Flying Biscuit Cafe (Little Five Points)

1655 McLendon Ave. NE
Atlanta, GA 30307
404-687-8888websitePrice: Least Expensive
Area: Perimeter & Outlying

Around the clock breakfast is offered at this funky and casual joint in Little Five Points. Come on off hours to avoid a loyal crowd that is happy to wait an hour or more for omelets, pancakes and of course, hardly athletic-minded (but very tasty), biscuits. But before you write this place off as a total calorie explosion, The Flying Biscuit also offers a number of light and vegetarian options at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The ambiance is hodge-podge friendly with colorful murals, mismatched furnishings, bright vinyl table cloths, and other eclectic touches. If you do arrive here only to find a long wait, the next door bakery sells a number of baked goods.

The non-stop breakfast menu presents all sorts of yummy creations for all types of eaters. Consider the "Hollywood" omelet with egg whites, spinach, mushrooms and mozzarella; the "high flyer", a combo of eggs, free-range chicken sausage and one organic oatmeal pancake; the tofu or veggie scramble; orange scented French toast; or a French vanilla non-fat yogurt parfait. Lunch and dinner fare are equally diverse with turkey meatloaf, black bean and cornmeal cakes, a vegan Southern burrito, two types of veggie burgers, turkey burgers, quesadillas, organic field green salad and more. At dinner there are seasonal specials available after 5 pm. Count on fish, pasta and typically a meat dish.

Vegetarian and vegan friendly; Kid friendly (mention their web add and kids under 12 eat free 4 to 7 pm from Kids' menu)

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily 7a-9:30p.
Long weekend waits for breakfast/brunch; 3-course wine tasting dinner for $25 every Friday
