With the Ritz family, you can always count on impeccable service, high thread count bedding, 24-hour room service, and warm hospitality. But talk about a hotel chain that is stingy on workout information! Ritz downtown Atlanta's website says nothing about the gym other than that they have one. From afar, it doesn't seem to be a priority. WiFi costs a fee, but the onsite fitness room is free.
But we certainly love the decor of the rooms. They are classy and sophisticated with a nod to the city's music culture and to nature. Calming hues of gray and lavender are used in the bathrooms and the bedroom area stays neutral and peaceful. There are also "wellness rooms" here that come with special amenities such as air purification, zenergy light and sound therapy machine, yoga mat, foam roller, and free access to 191 Resolution Fitness (see below).
The Ritz' gym is somewhat small and hence the lower rating. So if you don't find the machines you like, you can walk to Phoenix Athletic Club, but it's closed on weekends ($5/day). More convenient is the club located in the adjacent building on the third floor ($10): 191 Resolution Fitness. It's "members only" with privileges for Ritz guests.
Swimmers will have to turn laps at the Piedmont Hospital Health and Fitness Club or consider the MLK Aquatic Center's indoor 4 lane lapper.
Joggers should consider our Piedmont Park route.
