The sports-minded town of Austin is littered with enviable community swim options. About 2-miles from Downtown, the 3-acre Barton is a fresh water spring which averages 68-degrees year round. Although termed a "pool," it is really a dammed off 100-foot wide x 1/8-mile long lake making it an ideal spot to practice your open water technique, if you can tolerate the chill.
During Austin's hot summer days, you better show up early because the midday sun brings out the floating rafts, noodles, and children. Barton is $2/day for lap accrual.
