This four-floor facility is loaded with cutting edge equipment, an indoor track, a full-length basketball court, and a quality lap pool. Downtown Birmingham actually has two YMCA's: Downtown and Five Points.

* Turn L (east) on Arlington and veer R once the road turns to Cahaba Rd.

This newer club stocks a wide variety of workout equipment and offers a respectable assortment of classes, as is typical for the more recently opened Gold's facilities.

This YMCA doesn't not allow non-members to workout without a guest. If you talk to the membership manager and plead your case, you might be able to gain access, although those we spoke with on the phone were adament that this wasn't the case.
- Community Center
This studio is a great option for beginners or someone looking for low-key yoga classes. Focusing on alignment and breath awareness, you will spend most of the class fine-tuning subtle details of just a few postures.

Billed as a "fitness studio," PH Balanced offers a little bit of everything from pilates and yoga to one-on-one personal training to massage. Their yoga classes vary in intensity depending on the clientele, but typically they follow an easy to intermediate level vinyasa format.

Group run for all level runners that leaves this running store at 5:30 pm every Wednesday (weather permitting). There are 3, 5 and 8.5-mile courses each week.
