Do not confuse this Embassy Suites with its sister property on Ontario Street. This propety's location, within 3 blocks of Michigan Avenue, closer to the lakefront and Navy Pier, is convenient to all Chicago attractions. The 17-story atrium hotel is one of the nicest Embassy's we have seen and stayed in, and we've toured quite a few.
Guests can count on Embassy's separate sleeping area floor plans in all 455 rooms, along with kitchenettes, microwaves, refrigerators and impressive city views. Request a room on the "quiet" side of the hotel, making sure it's not above a busy street and, if possible, a view of Lake Michigan. Each morning starts with Embassy's complimentary full breakfast buffet of pancakes, omelets, cereals and juices, a perfect reward after a hard sweat. Expect lines for the made-to-order omelets.
The lobby level workout facility serves up an adequate aerobic or simple strength session (dumbbells), but there is no upright bike and the limited number of machines can all be occupied during peak hours. If you're looking for more options, check out Planet Fitness across the street above the Whole Foods ($20/day), or one of our other Work Out options (CorePower Yoga is very close.)
Embassy's 21-yard indoor pool is a desperate swimmer's lap option, but with no lane lines or bottom stripes, straight swimming is difficult. It's a popular spot with the kids too. During Chicago's warm summer days, consider an open water swim from Ohio Street Beach.
Embassy guests can also seek shelter and entertainment during cold Chicago winter days at the 21-screen movie theater next door.
