Don't judge a book by its cover or a hotel by its surroundings. Busy and harried O'Hare Airport may envelop this Hilton accommodation, but the hotel's 860 rooms and inviting common areas provide a welcome retreat from the neighboring chaos. Spread across 10 stories, Hilton's guest quarters are business friendly in terms of decorand loaded with appealing perks and features such as 250 thread-count linens, alarm clocks with hook-ups for your iPod or CD player, and wireless high-speed internet access (fee applies). Most important, the rooms are sound-proofed to keep the jet noise from awakening you before the alarm.
Also, the onsite restaurant, Andiamo, offers a suitable venue for any business meeting. In fact, often business travelers meet here, conduct business, and then fly home. The menu is Italian inspired and well balanced.
Below the lobby on the lower level, Hilton's fitness center affords athletic-minded travelers with fantastic cardio, strength machine, and free weight workout options. Because floor-to-ceiling glass windows are the only divider between the gym and the underground walkway, don't plan on a private sweat. Passers-by can peek in on your cycling and treadmilling. Nevertheless, the top-notch machinery will likely cause you to forget about the interlopers in a hurry.
Pick your pleasure, it's all here except for a legitimate lap pool. There is a short indoor pool on-site, but its 45-foot length will make meaningful yardage accrual difficult. Water walking and water aerobics may be better options. Add some outdoor miles with a run near the airport.
Admission costs $20/day for non-hotel guests and $15 for hotel guests that are not Honors members. It's FREE for Hilton Honors members.
