Marriott has anchored the south end of Chicago's Magnificent Mile for a long time. Steps from upscale shopping boutiques, department stores, and the lakefront, Marriott possesses many positive characteristics. But the feather in its cap is certainly its Michigan Ave. location. We love the onsite pantry and very modern and stylish rooms. Wow.
Want to see how a $15 million renovation changes a 46-story hotel? Spend some time inside one of Marriott's 1,192 bold and colorful guest rooms and you'll soon find out. Stylish and comfortable bedding, upscale baths (though sink counter space is somewhat scarce), ergonomic work spaces, flat screen TVs, and if you're lucky, wonderful views, may keep you inside more than you originally planned.
As an athletic-minded traveler, you will happily exit your comfy quarters for your workout. Marriott provides a fantastic (and recently renovated) option designed to meet the demands of athletic-minded travelers. The new space was expanded from 2,200 square feet to 9,000 square feet. They call this open studio a “Fitness Lab,” as it features technology that allows guests to choose from 1,200 digital fitness classes via Fitness On Demand. Classes include cycling, yoga, Zumba, Pilates, step, boot camp and hip-hop dance. If you're traveling with little ones, the studio also offers kids’ classes. Marriott treats its guests to Life Fitness cardio equipment, including treadmills, elliptical and stair machines, upright and recumbent bikes and aqua rowers. There's also Synergy 360 strength equipment with box jump and adjustable pulley system, stability balls, TRX station, chest press machine, shoulder press machine and leg extension machine.
Swimmers will likely want to look elsewhere as the 2-lane "lap pool" is only about 14-yards in length. We recommend one of our off-site health clubs, or during the summer months an open-water dip at Ohio Street beach. Runners should consider an outdoor jaunt along the Lakefront path.
