This unbelievably posh accommodation will spoil you. Steps away from upscale shopping on Michigan Avenue's aptly named Magnificent Mile and within 10 minutes walk of Oak Street Beach, Peninsula's location has it all.
This hotel's 339 guest quarters enchant with luxurious décor, contemporary style and modern electronic gizmos. Like a swank gadget store, the technologically advanced rooms captivated us. We especially enjoyed soaking in the full-size tub while controlling the bathroom's television, speaker phone and music system from a reachable wall pad. 24-hour room service, afternoon tea, 4 distinct restaurants and a toney bar comprise the hotel's cuisine options. While worker bees at such luxury venues sometimes front a hoity-toity attitude, the staff here is friendly and helpful.
Peninsula's spa and fitness center covers the 19th and 20th floors. Commanding Magnificent Mile views, light hardwood floors, bright walls and newer exercise equipment will inspire you. Though Precor elliptical addicts may be disappointed by the best sellers' absence (Life Fitness is supplied instead), plenty of other high-end machines and weights are available for the taking, including roughly 350 pounds of plate free weights for bench press etc. Daily classes are offered for those seeking like-minded travelers' company.
Swimmers will be awed. Peninsula's indoor, 3 lane, 25-meter lap option complete with floating lines and bottom stripes is a beauty. This water box one of the best hotel lappers in the country.
Joggers should consider an outdoor jaunt along the Lake Michigan path.
