It leans trendy and the menu is Chef driven. We like that along with the meat and fish, there are also solid vegan options. For those looking for a more gourmet experience without pretense, this is worthy of consideration. Greenhouse Tavern food is somewhat fancy, but the setting is not. It really is a tavern. There are two levels of seating, high ceilings, a long bar, an outdoor patio and bicycles decorate the walls and hang from the ceiling! See, it's very athletic-minded. FYI, there are a number of dining venues along East 4th.
The dinner menu leans heavy but there are a good number of lighter options in the mix. Examples from a recent menu included charred broccoli, fried Brussels sprouts, charred tomato salad, crispy chicken wings, filet of beef tartare, grilled octopus, pork chop saltimbocca, daily fish, "vegan bbq", rice and bean veggie burger, chicken in bread, and strip steak. It's a big menu. The lunch menu is similar but has more salads, soups and sandwiches. Many entrees are also offered. If you come for the weekend brunch, the more "breakfast-like" dishes include buttermilk pancakes, popcorn French toast, eggs your way, pastrami hash and steak and eggs. A whey waffle is offered as a side. There are many savory dishes also.
