Cleveland residents have been treated to an upgrade in the community center world - the new Parker Hannifin YMCA. This facility, which opened in March of 2016, resides within the Galleria and Tower. Parker Hannifin takes advantage of Galleria’s glass ceiling and windows to create a light-filled space, something rare within a YMCA. A cornucopia of windows surround the second-floor space that looks into the three-lane lap pool. We were impressed with this replacement for the older Cleveland YMCA in the Heritage Hall building that we previously recommended.
Let's get down to the nitty gritty: inside, two floors are mostly populated by Precor pieces. Treadmills, uprights and recumbents, and ellipticals all bear the popular fitness brand. Hannifin also stocks Woodway Curve treadmills, Expresso and Keiser cycles, StairMaster steppers, as well as Concept 2 rowers. In short, you won't need to look far to get your heart pumping. Weight training buffs won't be disappointed. Precor supplies the plate-loaded resistance equipment, while traditional means of strength training are also available. Dumbbells, barbells, and Hammer Strength equipment round out the muscle modalities.
Parker Hannifin houses a three-lane, 25-yard swimming pool, so swim fields aren't left high and dry. There are also mind/body classes available (pilates and yoga), as well as other group exercise offerings like boot camp, dance, Zumba, and spinning.
The first visit is on the house - just follow this link to a free guest pass. After that, it's $10/day to use this wonderful community center.
