What we like about this hotel is that it offers the only all-suite accommodation in downtown Columbus (9 floors - 194 rooms). The 625 square-foot guestrooms have separate living and sleeping areas with French doors dividing the two. Mini refrigerators and microwaves are also provided, along with high speed wireless internet. The Doubletree "Sweet Dreams" beds are a welcome perk with soft sheets and comfortable mattresses. A breakfast buffet is offered in the dining area off the lobby, and runs around $15.
Doubletree guests with a penchant for pulse raising have a convenient fitness option. Pick up a pass from the front desk and head to the Capital Club, a private club in the same building (7th floor). Capital Club has much to offer including a load of cardio and strength options along with group fitness classes, sauna, hot tub and even a golf simulator. Other guests are permitted, but they have to pay.
Swimmers should walk 7 minutes to the downtown YMCA ($15). If the YMCA. Also nearby is the Columbus Aquatic Center and its budget rates ($8 - 8 minute drive), as is The Ohio State University Recreational Pools ($10/day - 10 minute drive).
Joggers should head out the front door and follow our recommended route up to OSU.
