The Galleria area of Dallas is a retail shopping and corporate office hotspot about 15-20 minutes north of downtown. Quite a few hotels offer accommodations in the area and the Westin is at the mall's entrance! Don't judge this warm and inviting hotel by its cold and dreary exterior. The interior is appealing, warm and stylish. Conservative white and cream room tones provide an upscale backdrop for typical Westin furnishings: the comfortable "Heavenly Beds", ergonomic desks and chairs, etc. High speed internet access is available (fee applies) and 24 hour room service can be ordered for those with late night munchies. The rooms are modern but nothing overly impressive. Mini fridge, coffee maker and complimentary bottled water are amenities.
Westin's hotel gym is very good. There's Life Fitness cardio equipment with attached TVs and a good number of weight machines for strength: dumbbells up to 50 pounds, a multitrainer with weights up to 210 lbs and about 6 stack loaded stations. We also like the separated area for stretching and mat work. If you didn't pack workout gear, they've got you covered for a fee. Westin has recently partnered with New Balance to provide athletic shoes and apparel during your stay. Simply dial Service Express and request your shoe and clothing size and they will be conveniently delivered to your guest room.
Those wanting more from their sweat should head to 24 Hour Fitness in Addison. It's only a few minutes’ drive from the hotel and has everything you'll ever need ($15 admission).
Lap swimmers should also head to 24 Hour Fitness for its 25-meter pool. Westin does have an outdoor water box with a bottom stripe, but there are no floating lane lines, it is outside (chilly in the winter), and the water temperature isn't conducive to an extended swim. It's worth taking a gander in case it might work for you.
