Hyatt Place properties are appealing to the senses and the pocketbook. Expect comfortable bedding, desirable decor, flatscreen televisions, free WiFi, and new furnishings in all the rooms. Complimentary continental breakfasts are served each morning and the hotel gym is very satisfying for cardio buffs, and recently addedd a substantial dumbbell set.
It's a small gym, but we like what's inside: 4 recently purchased Life Fitness units, which includes 2 treads, 1 recumbent bike and 1 elliptical. All have personal television viewing screens attached.
If you need more or a lap swim, make the 10-minute drive to Great Lakes Athletic Club. This private fitness center allows guests to use the facility for $20/day or $39/week. They've got everything you want, including an indoor lap pool and, weather-permitting, an outdoor lap pool. A little closer to the hotel is Xceleration Fitness, a unique training studio that incorporates boot camp-style workouts in a turf-filled environment. It's worth trying, since the first visit is free.
