The 16-story hotel sits in downtown's business district and is the closest accommodation to two YMCAs. The rooms are classically appointed with puffy comforters and cherry wood furniture. Traveling with a friend of the four-legged kind? Sharing your bed is encouraged, but ordering room service is not. And Omni retracts the welcome mat for furry ones tipping the scales over 25 lbs. Rooms have Keurig coffeemakers, and for "Select" guest members, WiFi is free.
As for your workout, the cardio bases are covered and strength enthusiasts get some attention too. Most equipment is Precor and most of the cardio machines have TVs attached. If you prefer more privacy, you can request a "fitness kit" from the front desk.
Meanwhile you have two additional nearby options. For $10/day, the Bank of America Building YMCA is just across the street (closed weekends), or jog/drive an approximate mile to the full-service Winston Family YMCA ($15/day). Our recommendation depends on what is most important to you. Budget concerns? Sweat for free at the hotel. Looking for size and variety? Go to Winston. Finally, if Omni's gym does not satisfy and Winston is too far, head across the street (remember, weekdays only).
Of course, keep in mind our other recommended workout option--especially swimmers: a little longer drive to Cecil. Joggers can head out the Omni's front door and pick up our run route.
