This upscale accommodation is a fabulous hotel pick on several fronts. It's super convenient for those traveling by train (about 5 to 10 minutes walk depending on your pace). All 338 spacious rooms are decorated in a modern style, with premium bedding, large wall to wall windows, flat-screen televisions and impressive marble bathrooms featuring separate walk-in showers and deep-soaking tubs. Our room (#438) overlooked the busy street below, but we were pleasantly surprised by the lack of overnight noise. The heavy blackout curtains/drapes will be appreciated by those in need of some jet-lagged shut-eye. High-speed internet is complimentary and wires can be provided if you don't have any.
College students from the nearby university make up most of the night shift personnel, so service diminishes some. But our guess is that the co-eds will become more customer savvy with experience. A couple other slight annoyances: charging for a newspaper (should be free at these rates), and the "tray charge" for room service. Nevertheless, Manchester still garners our highest rating.
Technogym cardio and strength equipment fills the fitness space. Macdonald guests will find an assortment of cardio options, along with three separate weight stations and a small dumbbell set.
Lap swimmers should plan on walking ten minutes to the Manchester Aquatic Centre for a competition-quality pool venue.
Keep the fabulous spa in mind as a reward for your commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
