Staying at this Munich luxury property costs a truckload, but high expectations will be satisfied, including sweat needs - if you follow our advice. Kempinski's toney spa is attended by staff from 6:30am to 10:30pm. The sixth floor gym stocks a sufficient supply of top-notch Technogym cardio and weight apparatus. The machine assortment isn't as plentiful as other Munich hotel options, but there's no arguing with its quality. The 12-meter indoor pool, while attractive, does not provide an adequate venue for true lap swimming. We always enjoy a pleasant workout ambiance too and the hardwood floors, abundant natural light and city views keep exercisers coming back.
Kempinski's central location is great for tourists and business folk, and equally convenient for runners and power walkers. Hofgarten, about a half-mile away, has several paths for uncomplicated walking. Within a mile is Munich's outdoor jewel, the English Garden, where joggers can follow dirt trails to their heart's content. This property is in the midst of a renovation, recently completing the main entrance and some of the rooms.
We only recommend staying here if, and only if, you can get a room anywhere in the hotel besides the first floor. Some rooms still allow you to smoke on the first floor, but the entire hotel was renovated a few years ago. Notwithstanding the room-quality disparity, service here (no matter what room number assigned) is phenomenal.
