Don't confuse this elegant restaurant with the steakhouse chain. Located in the very upscale Hermitage Hotel, Capitol Grille is equally posh with a dining room that is Southern traditional with floral carpeting, cloth and leather chairs, white table cloths and vaulted ceilings. The attached Oak Bar with its classic old time feel is an after-work favorite. While there are undoubtedly a number of very rich and fussy dishes served, Capitol Grille breaks away from other elegant hotel restaurant menus by offering "simply prepared" entrées providing a nice balance.
The breakfast menu is hotel fancy with an ample selection of eggs, omelets, French toast, pancakes and waffles. On the lighter side, fresh fruit, custom omelets (egg substitute or all whites) with vegetarian sausage, fresh fruit, turkey bacon, steel cut oats, and dry cereals are also on the menu. Lunch offers two starter salads as well as one entrée salad, soups, burger, hot and cold sandwiches (grilled chicken, shrimp roll, club, steak), and entrées including trout, grilled steak and glazed chicken.
The dinner menu changes seasonally. Expect a very upscale menu with decadent options. However, Capitol typically has light and fresh soups, starter salads, and the simply prepared meat and fish options which allow diners to select a meat (strip, ribeye, beef tenderloin) or seafood (salmon, halibut, tuna, scallops) and the sauce, which of course can be ordered on the side. A la carte veggies and starches are listed too. Calorie counters will definitely want to request steamed preparations. For those looking to indulge Capitol offers an impressive selection of beef, game, seafood and poultry, with unusual accompaniments and preparations such as the duo of Australian lamb with summer squash, carrot confit and fava beans, or the seared rare tuna with organic farro, smoked paprika, English peas and trumpet royale. You get the idea.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast begins at 6:30a.
