The Bryant Park Hotel is proof that we don't only care about the size of the gym. It's trendy, but not to the point where you'd think they're trying too hard. The minimalist rooms are appealing with full marble baths, deep soaking tubs, sleep therapy sound machines, flat screen LCD TVs, and Tibetan rugs, but what really makes this accommodation special is its location. Bryant Park is located across the street and many rooms overlook its grassy, block-long, open space. Enjoy a book or picnic on the park's lawn, or sip a cocktail and nibble on a few appetizers at the adjacent outdoor café. Ice skating is offered in the winter. And the HUGE Whole Foods is nearby. Another unique amenity is the 62 seat Film Screening Room!
Bryant's in-house 5th floor fitness center is small, but the equipment inside is sufficient for an on-the-road sweat. Guests get served a high quality diet of cardio and strength equipment. The lone Precor elliptical may force you into a "holding pattern" if a fellow workout warrior is on board. The 4 bikes and treadmills work fine. Muscle pumpers are taken into account here with both weight machines and dumbbells/barbells. TV's hang on the wall, ab balls and wobble boards sit on the floor. We just wish a little natural light shined inside and the style was more stylish. (The 20 x 25 room is windowless.)
For those in search more more, Mid City Gym is within a half-mile. Check out the hotel's own restaurant Koi, and keep your eye out for someone famous at the cozy Underground Bar.
Swimmers can add to their workout experience with some lapping at CompleteBody.
