For athletic-minded travelers staying on the west side of Omaha, this full-service health club is your best bet. Don't be fooled by the club's boring concrete exterior. Inside, sweat fiends will be impressed with an upscale atmosphere, top notch equipment and friendly/helpful staff. All of the typical high-end suspects are in the house including Life Fitness bikes, Precor ellipticals, Hammer Strength free weight machines, and much, much more.
Prairie's indoor lap pool is comparable in quality to the only other competition pool in the area at UNO (also listed on this site). You may get a few more people in the lanes here vs. UNO, but the lap times are more frequent and the locker rooms are much nicer. Plus there is no admission hassle (pay $15 and you're in). As with any competition-grade pool, expect backstroke flags overhead, bottom stripes below, and floating lines on top of the water's surface. Kickboards and pull-buoys are available too.
If you travel to Omaha frequently, pick up a 5-vist punch card for $60. They don't expire and you can save money versus the $15/option if you get your sweat on frequently.
A snack bar adjacent to the lobby serves smoothies, packaged foods, and other post-workout goodies.
