Located just outside the Omaha downtown limits, and directly south of the University of Nebraska-Omaha campus, Genesis makes our list for it's relationship with two adjacent hotels: the Residence Inn Aksarban Village and the Courtyard Aksarban Village.
Hooray for a full service athletic club that is close to the downtown hotels. Sadly Swimmers are left out. There is no lapper here. But there are a load of classes and every modality of strength and cardio that you could hope for.
For athletic-minded travelers staying on the west side of Omaha, this full-service health club is your best bet. Don't be fooled by the club's boring concrete exterior. Inside, sweat fiends will be impressed with an upscale atmosphere, top notch equipment and friendly/helpful staff.
For those looking for Hot Yoga and/or Hatha Yoga, West Omaha's Karma Yoga is worth considering. The studio offers the Hot 26 series in a room heated to 105 F with 40% humidity.
This trail is a 15-mile paved path that meanders through commercial, retail and residential districts on Omaha's west side. The path is paved throughout (see our photos) and has some up/down slopes.
We were most impressed with the space and surrounding area of Lotus Yoga. Need coffee, healthy snack, meal, get your nails done...it's all here. Several of our recommended hotels are here too. In terms of the yoga, it's decent.
Instruction at Omaha Power Yoga takes place in a simple room with wooden flooring and unique lighting that gives off an energetic vibe. Visitors appreciate the non-competitive atmosphere and skilled instruction.
One Tree Yoga has two locations in Omaha. This one on the west side offers Hatha, Align and Flow, Yin and Restorative yoga classes. The classes are not heated.
One Tree Yoga East offers the fixed Hot 26 series as well as other Hatha yoga classes. This "East" studio is more centrally located than its sister studio. The space is rather small with room for about 20 yogis, but it is cheerful and well maintained. The upside is that it can get nice and hot.
One of our members recommended this pool, so we called to get the download. Officialy, non-members can only swim if they arrive with a member, faculty, or student of UNO.
We primarily recommend this community center for its above-average lap pool (the best downtown)--though it does additionally offer cardio and strength equipment and fitness classes.
