This is one of the smaller clubs recommended on our entire site, but if you are staying in a nearby hotel, this gym will suffice for a brief (but convenient) on-the-road strength or cardio session. Yoga and Zumba classes are offered, but not too often.
This shopping mall-based fitness club still managed to make a good impression. It's not huge, and the mall locale can make for an awkward and sweaty trek to and fro, yet high quality cardio and strength machines are what really matter to us.
When you need to sweat it out, Pure Yoga is here for you. There are three locations in Ottawa and two are downtown. This location is in Centretown and close to most of our recommended hotels. All classes are heated and all classes are suitable for beginners and more advanced practitioners.
Since we toured Ottawa during the summer, we missed out on ice skating on the Canal, but from what we understand it is as popular as running in the warmer months, locals even use it to commute to work! Paved paths meander for miles along the Canal's two banks.
The University of Ottawa offers two options for your workout needs.
The only 50-meter lap pool in downtown Ottawa, this University option is a short taxi ride or a long summer's walk from most hotels.
Located in the basement of the downtown Sun Life Financial Centre (Level B1) high-rise office building, this community center is a popular sweat spot for the local work crowd. All cardio and strength equipment is dispersed throughout one large open space.
