The Durham is a new addition to the downtown hotel scene. Opened in 2015, this boutique hotel has 53 rooms, a restaurant and bar that are run by a James Beard-award winning chef, and a dynamite relationship with a nearby community center.
First, let's talk about the guest quarters. Each of the 53 rooms features modern interiors and local collaborations, designed to be warm and residential, making guests feel right at home. Amenities include free WiFi, pillow top beds, 42" flat screen televisions, as well as other unique features like local artwork, custom wooden desks, and walk-in showers.
How about the workout scene? Durham has an in-house gym, which is enough for a quick workout. It has 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, and 2 recumbent bikes, as well as free weights, a weight machine, medicine balls, a bench, and space for yoga. If you're looking for more, take advantage of the relationship with the Downtown Durham YMCA - guests get free access to this nearby (0.2 miles away) gem of a facility. Everything is here, including an amazing lap pool for our swimming friends.
There's also rooftop yoga that's free for hotel guests. Rooftop Vinyasa Yoga classes are held Thursday at noon, and Friday - Sunday at 9:00 am. Thurs – noon; Fri, Sat, Sun – 9am. Complementary infused water and towels included and all levels are welcome!
The Durham is rife with good eats and drinks - a true benefit of a boutique hotel. The Roof is the name of the hotel bar and restaurant and, like the name says, it's located on the roof. Guests are treated to original, handcrafted cocktails, extensive wine and beer offerings and a seasonal raw bar and small kitchen menu. Andrea Reusing runs the bar and the menu, so expected to be "wowed" by this award-winning chef.
