If you are in search of a fine dining experience, LuLou's is one of the best in Reno with its modern, artsy, industrial decor punctuated by exposed brick, glass walls, white table cloths, black chairs, big artwork, an open kitchen, high ceilings, and cool lighting. While offering a fine dining experience complete with dim lighting, Lulou's is neither stuffy nor formal. If the dining room is packed, simply opt for the lounge which serves the full menu. It won't be as comfortable, but when you are in need of some upscale food, it works. Additionally, the enclosed garden with big white umbrellas is a lovely warm weather dining option.
The menu changes almost every week and is European and Asian inspired. Along with main entrées there are also a diverse number of smaller plates which will appeal to light eaters. Recent examples include a ribeye carpaccio, crab skillet cake, hamachi ceviche, cured salmon, spring pea salad, chopped salad, and spicy duck soup. Entree examples are wild salmon with rice, seet peas and chimichurri sauce; lobster spaghetti, onion-chile crusted short ribs; golden tilefish with Chinese black bean sauce; and NY steak with king trumpet mushroom, potato gratin and black garlic.
