This appealing South Reno health club supplies exercisers with reliable equipment in a high-ceiling, warehouse-like, two-story facility with a balcony that overlooks the main fitness floor. Most of the cardio machines are arranged upstairs and the muscle-pump apparatus down below.
In this part of South Reno, this gym differentiates itself from its health club peers with a better than average 4-lane x 25-yard lap pool.
In one giant warehouse-like room, this health club supplies a litany of top-notch cardio and strength equipment under big screen televisions which hang overhead.
Full Pedal Reno is an indoor cycling studio equipped with bikes, padded weight bars, and lively music. The North Reno location is located right off the 659 freeway. Athletic-Minded Travelers can look forward to a fun workout with nightclub quality sound in a stadium style pedal room.
Set in the middle of a park, this very appealing 8-lane x 50-meter outdoor pool is worth the 5-minute drive from downtown Reno. Actually, for $5 admission, Idlewild is worth a long drive too (see our pics).
This is a way above average yoga studio. Students sign in via iPads, the decor is upscale with a full service boutique and a welcoming vibe. The spacious practice room is complete with odor-free recycle rubber flooring and ample natural light via large sliding glass doors lining the back wall.
Although the community center does offer a meager cardio and strength fitness center with approximately 12 Precor cardio machines and a healthy supply of strength equipment, we primarily recommend this venue for its lap pool, and only if you cannot access any of our other water options.
Desert parks are notoriously difficult to upkeep and maintain (especially during the dry months, which are quite a few for this part of the country). So, don't expect Rancho San Rafael to wow you with huge trees, acres of green grass or babbling brooks and streams.

Wow! This place is enormous! So big that we question whether it makes practical business sense to pay rent on all that extra space? In addition to racquetball, basketball and a 1/8-mile indoor track, SRAC also houses a 40-yard turf space designed like a football field. Bizarre!
Come here for the closest full-service health club to downtown Reno and the best bet for travelers with a downtown home base.
This is more than a yoga studio. It's also a place to relax and enjoy a vegan snack or tea. The decor is eastern Zen and welcoming. There is a spacious lounge area with a free tea and water station. In terms of the yoga, there are 2 practice rooms here.
Similar to the pool's rules, UN's recreational center (located inside the Lombardi Building) is restricted to current undergrads, alumni, university staff, and others with a "connection" to the university.
In the middle of campus, UN's 400-meter track is just what you'd expect from a collegiate oval: a soft surface, a football field in the center, and seating for thousands around the perimeter. Posted track hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
We were bummed to learn that this fantastic pool is accessible only to college students, alumni and those affiliated with the university.
