An educational breeding ground for tomorrow's scientists and engineers, UCSD is also an athletic playground for local residents and out-of-town visitors. Professional triathletes and Olympic track and fielders train on this 1/4 -mile oval. Circular running is free, but you may be trumped by the UCSD Track Team. However, if just the Field Team is working out in the middle, the coaches are pretty releaxed about having runners on the track.
Parking on campus can be a challenge, but temporary permits can be purchased at the Visitor Information Center on the campus' NW side (some meter spots are located near each of the athletic venues).
Running on the meandering roads and tree-lined trails (east of Hopkins Drive) is another hilly treat. Maps are available at the Visitor Information Center. Estancia guests are closest to all the fun, although anyone staying in the La Jolla area can enjoy the facilities. We do all the time!
