A very small facility, this YMCA only should be considered by athletic-minded travelers for its indoor lap pool, and even that isn't overly impressive. The 3 lanes stretch across 25 yards, but when we toured the facility at 3pm on a weekday, all lanes were occupied.
Runners can partake in group runs that take place throughout the week and range in distance from 5 to 12 miles. The group splits up into varying paces, but 8-minute miles are very common.
This 165 acre county park offers beautiful rolling hills and dirt trails. It's a perfect spot for hikers and runners to log many miles on foot. Cupertino is the closest city, but the dramatic scenery is worth the drive from all parts of the Valley.

This is one of the few pure Bikram studios in Silicon Valley. It offers both 60 minute and 90 minute "Bikram" classes. While the ambiance is not particularly noteworthy, you can count on great heat and quality instruction.

If staying on or near campus and looking for a run venue uninterrupted by automobiles or traffic signals, consider the perimeter dirt trail around Santa Clara's open field. The large grassy area is located on the southeast side of campus, adjacent to El Camino Real as it curves.
True, this high school and its pool are not located in Cupertino, but Saratoga is within a ten minute drive and athletic-minded travelers should seriously consider the trip for this stellar water box. The outdoor venue is 50 meters long, but typically set up short course.

A runner hasn't really run at Stanford until he or she has done the dish loop. Very hilly, the loop rewards you at the top with spectacular view of the bay area; when visibility is good, you can see all the way to San Francisco.

Waterworks Aquatics is a welcome respite for the San Jose swim scene. Located ten minutes from downtown San Jose, this indoor pool is reasonably affordable at $10/day. It's even better if you're in town for a bit - $8.50/day for four or more days.

We were excited to find a good hot yoga studio in Sunnyvale, and while we typically prefer pure Bikram studios, this one is a great alternative. The yoga is a vinyasa flow, meaning a wide variety of postures linked together in a flowing sequence, held in a room heated to about 90 degrees.
This studio gets rave reviews from the local yogis and cyclists. The facilities are upscale and the teaching top-notch. Don't confuse it with the Cupertino Yoga Source though. This studio has showers!
