This comes directly from one of our star MVP's (codename: "bux"): Stayed at the Marriott Starr Pass this week for a training vacation. Great property for a fitness filled vacation with plenty of trails on property for running/mountain biking, easy access to impressive road cycling from the resort including Gates Pass (good 3+ mile climb going over at 4-10% grade and about 1.5 miles coming back topping out at 18-19% grade) and Saguaro National Forest.
The Kashani spa on property has a 2-lane, 25-yard lap pool and a top notch fitness center with plenty of new treads, 2 uprights and enough dumbells/machines to get it all done. The fee is $15 per day but if you ask nicely, you can often get in a free swim, early or late, or 2 days for the price of one if you are only going to use the facilities on a limited schedule.
Inside the hotel, there is also one complimentary gym that has 4 treads, 1 upright and dumbells weighing up to 50 pounds.
There are 3 restaurants on site plus a full service Starbucks--the standout is an Italian restaurant called Primo that features a predominantly organic menu.
Also found a great restaurant at the recomendation of the hotel called Cuvee World Bistro, great fresh food with plenty of healthy and tasty options and it is right next door to a Wild Oats market. Overall Tucson rocks for a traininig trip and the JW Starr Pass is a great place to use Marriott points!!!
