This comes directly from one of our star MVP's (codename: "bux"): Stayed at the Marriott Starr Pass this week for a training vacation.
Price: ExpensiveSet in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains, this recently renovated 395-room resort is a wonderful retreat for athletes and non-athletes alike.
Price: Moderately ExpensiveAdd another item to the wish list. Together with the Range Rover, the $10,000 Pinarello bicycle, and the closet full of Dolce & Gabbana clothing, etch Miraval Spa into your slate of extravagant desires. This all-inclusive resort is not at all haughty, it is just really expensive.
Price: ExpensiveGolf is clearly the focus (27 PGA Tour level holes) of this Spanish hacienda-style resort, so we were pleasantly surprised by the additional recreational opportunities available to guests.
Price: Least ExpensiveFor budget travelers, this Quality Inn is recommended primarily for its relationship with and proximity to the adjacent Platinum Fitness.
Price: Least ExpensiveThis property isn't too far down on the food chain from the Gold-rated Loews. The recently-renovated 487-room Westin strives to match the panache of its desert rival. We applaud the in-room mini fridges, full length mirrors, big soaking tubs, Heavenly beds and private balconies.
Price: Moderately ExpensiveSimilar to the Omni, Westward's room rates vary significantly by season. During the "high" months of February and March, prices can exceed $200/night. But come June, the cost consistently idles under three figures! We like the Westward but not enough to recommend it at $150-$200/night.
