Year-round locals and visitors come here to enjoy the beach, watch a sunset, stroll along the mile-long seawall, have dinner, or let their kids spend some energy at the waterfront playground.

Situated between Gilford and Bidwell Streets, this is the most populated beach in the downtown area. It's perfect for people watching and walking and is a local hot-spot to enjoy sunsets.

Located about 15 minutes from downtown and accessible by the public bus system, Grouse Mountain is a worthy athletic destination for all sorts of activities year-round. The downside is that admission to the mountain isn't cheap and will run you about $30.

This park separates Vancouver from the University of British Columbia, and has roughly 1,885 acres of forest to its name. While it is a bit of a "hike" from the downtown hotels, it is easily accessible by car, or by an 8 mile bicycle ride from the seawalk downtown. Parking is ample.

While Stanley Park is the most visited park in the city, this 130 acre park offers a plethora of outdoor fun. Free disc golf and tennis are available, but be prepared to wait. You can also golf on the 18 hole short course, though it is aimed at beginners.

The only golf option in downtown Vancouver proper, this fun pitch and putt course is located near the Beach Ave. entrance, just West of Lost Lagoon. We couldn't find an address, but call if you need more specific directions. The Pro Shop offers club rentals, as well as ball and tee sales.

One of the most popular tennis court banks in the city is near the Beach Avenue entrance to Stanley Park. The courts are available first-come, first-served--limited to 30 minutes play if someone is waiting.

Yaletown is a hip and fun neighborhood with a variety of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. This neighborhood also hosts a number of events throughout the year with the more interesting ones occurring during the summer and early fall.
