While this path is a popular running and walking route, it is also perfect for an easy mountain bike excursion. The 12 foot wide path starts in Georgetown, follows the Potomac River and stretches 184 miles into Maryland--making it perfect for endurance training.

If you find yourself in DC during the winter, consider enjoying the city on ice! The Sculpture Garden Ice Rink, located across from the National Gallery of Art on the Mall, is open mid-November through mid-March. There's music, a café and views of the garden.

The Rock Creek Park hike/bike trail can be picked up at a number of spots including the corner of Pennsylvania Ave NW ramp and Rock Creek Parkway.
