Good news for Athletic-Minded swimmers! This aquatic center is about one mile from many of our recommended hotels. The High School, Dunbar Senior High, began sharing the pool with the neighborhood in 2015 giving travelers more lap options. The vibe is relaxed and friendly.

We could go on and on about these amazing clubs, but you must see one for yourself. Because only a handful exists across the country, if you find yourself near one and guest access is permitted, we strongly recommend a field trip. D.C.'s version tops out at 100,000 square-feet. How big is that?

This community center deserves kudos for stocking new equipment, maintaining a fantastic lap pool and other upscale perks like a modern spin studio, rooftop terrace for yoga classes and a 2 story climbing wall. What we really wish is that NON-Y members could pay a fee for one-day access.
