Sheraton's large convention hotel suffers the same address challenge as the Westin: most business action is 12 blocks north, and most shopping and entertainment hoopla is 24 blocks south. Nevertheless Sheraton's 731 guest quarters and its gym will help please your senses.
Price: ExpensiveThere is not much to dislike about this splendid Sheraton hotel, especially if you are traveling to town for business at the adjacent and connected Overland Park Convention Center.
While Westin competes for the best hotel gym in urban Kansas City (Marriott downtown may be better), the accommodation's "convention-ish" vibe and boring location weaken its appeal.
Price: ExpensiveAs one of the largest hotels in the metro area, Marriott's 983 rooms span two neighboring towers. It's one of the more conveniently located properties for business in downtown KC. It's also close to the Power & Light District's restaurants and nightlife.
Price: ExpensiveCourtyard renovated an historic building and created a wonderful hotel. Hotel highlights include Courtyard's comfy bedding, free high-speed WiFi, an onsite Starbucks, small market and in room mini fridges, coffee makers and microwaves.
Price: Moderately ExpensiveThis recently-renovated Courtyard is a good representative for the business-traveler targeting chain.
Price: Moderately ExpensiveThis Hampton offers all of the positive features we've come to know and appreciate for this wallet-friendly brand. Upgraded "Cloud Nine" bedding, free WiFi internet access and complimentary hot breakfasts (even an "On the Run" breakfast bag) top the list of perks.
Price: Least ExpensiveWe like Hyatt Place hotels. Why? Because you know what you're going to get before setting foot in the lobby. Hyatt Corp. has continually expanded this brand and follows a cookie-cutter approach at every location and we like the "recipe."
Price: Moderately ExpensiveWe really like this hotel. Sitting on a small hill overlooking Brush Creek and nearby Country Club Plaza's upscale shops and restaurants, this Intercontinental often hosts professional athletic teams in town for a game.
Price: ExpensiveLocation, location, location! Residence Inn occupies prime real estate within steps of Country Club Plaza's coffee shops, cafes and swank shops. Although staying here puts you 5 miles away from downtown's business district, we believe this area's attractions are worth the trade-off.
Price: Moderately ExpensiveStay at this Drury Inn if you don't mind basic accommodations, want to save a few bucks, and desire convenient access to an off-site health club....and the free hot breakfast and evening hot food! While the fitness room is small, the equipment is newer and TV screens are attached.
Price: Least ExpensiveThe Hampton Inn Overland Park is right out of the Hampton Inn mold. As with most of these properties, guests will find a low-rise (5-story) building housing 100-ish rooms (133 to be exact) near a highway.
Price: Least ExpensiveThis familiar, midscale hotel chain no longer offers the free passes to Life Time Fitness.
