This is one of the few pure Bikram studios in Silicon Valley. It offers both 60 minute and 90 minute "Bikram" classes. While the ambiance is not particularly noteworthy, you can count on great heat and quality instruction. The studio space is simple and uncluttered with hard wood flooring, salmon colored walls and 180-degree mirrors for optimal alignment. We also appreciate the water filling station.
The locker rooms are clean and feature several four shower stalls and lockers for storing your personal belongings. Be sure to bring your own lock as rentals are not available, but security is typically not an issue here.
A single drop-in is $25 and includes mat and towel. Extra towel rentals are $1 each and water can be purchased for about $2-$3.
This Santa Clara studio is convenient if you're staying in Sunnyvale and Cupertino as it's a short 5 miles away. Milpitas and Mountain View are about 8-10 miles away. The studio can be a little tricky to locate as it is tucked between several industrial buildings, but you can find it on the second floor next to a tae kwon do studio, after turning right off the stairs. Parking spaces are somewhat limited, but there is typically plenty of free street parking available.
Call the studio or check the website for more detailed class information. There are typically 4-5 classes offered each day with the earliest class beginning at 5:30a and the latest at 8:15p. Both 60 minute and 90 minute classes are offered here.
ABOUT BIKRAM YOGA
Bikram Yoga welcomes beginners. The 90 minute class consists of 26 beginning postures and is conducted in a hot room (approx. 110 degrees) with, hopefully, high humidity. But don't be fooled into thinking beginning means easy - it doesn't! Iron men and couch potatoes, alike, have found themselves floored in "dead man's pose" just minutes into this challenging workout. You don't have to be strong or flexible or in excellent shape to do this yoga - you simply have to be willing. What we also really like about Bikram's is that every studio teaches the same sequence of postures so you always know you're going to get a full-body workout, a great benefit for travelers.
