REAL Tesla Competition: Lucid and Polestar

As early adopters of the Tesla sales pitch, we continue to be happy owners of its electric cars--a Model 3 (2017) and Model S (2013).  We only wish we would have held its stock after purchasing at $50/share (pre-split) in 2013.  Hindsight is 20/20.

New York with Kids – It's Way More Than Just New York City

We started planning our family New York trip only thinking about Manhattan.  Neither kid had yet traveled to the U.S.

Tokyo with Kids - A Surprisingly Family-Friendly Vacation

Depending on the destination, vacationing with your kids can be a wonderful memory-making experience or a complete disaster.  Any parent who says otherwise bends the truth like magician David Blaine bends the mind.

While certain experiences guarantee kid fun —Disney parks, Hawaii beaches, mountain snow-skiing---the cultural enrichment payoff is minimal.  If your 11-year old son believes that Epcot is a Chinese city, it might be a sign to get him a passport and go someplace far…very far.

Red Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas: A Healthier "Sin City" Trip

Most Sin City travelers have little interest roaming off the Strip, and who can blame them?  Massive hotels, scream-worthy amusement rides, titillating shows/nightclubs and wallet-busting shopping make Las Vegas Blvd a one-of-a-kind experience.

Running in Istanbul. Athletic-Minded Traveler's Guide to Where & Why.

Running is an athletic-minded traveler's favorite means to explore any city and it works super well in Istanbul!  This city boasts stunning and historic sights, some over two thousand years old.  It's unique geography is another reason to explore by foot.  Istanbul is split between its European and Asian halves by the Bosphorus Strait, and the waters of the Golden Horn divide the older European side.

The question becomes: Where to run?

San Diego Airport was a Pioneer in offering Free WiFi

We read earlier this summer about a number of airports moving to free WiFi access for travelers, and it made us proud to remember that our hometown San Diego Airport was one of the first to "see the light" and make available wireless internet access in all terminals -- Commuter, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 -- FREE...GRATIS...COMPED...PRO BONO (pick your adjective). This was 7 years ago!

Only in San Diego - Dragon Boat Rescue

From a recent Diane Bell column in the UT-San Diego:

Bob Kaplan won't be attending his daughter's Wellesley College graduation--due to a family of ducks.  Seems that early last Sunday, the ducklings decided to cross the road during a Fiesta Island Time Trial bike race.  Kaplan swerved to avoid them, taking a nasty spill.
